Sell Out for Martin Simpson Concert

Posted in Uncategorized on February 5, 2009 by Mrs Stott

On Thursday 15th January we were privileged to have the most amazing concert at Shepeau Stow, when Martin Simpson played to a packed hall.

The concert was wonderful-his playing and singing was a treat and the atmosphere was tremendous.

He played songs from his latest album Prodigal Son and recounted anecdotes about his beginnings in folk music.

To have such a brilliant performer at Shepeau Stow was a marvellous treat - he played at the first ever Folk Prom at the Albert hall last summer - and was a guest of Jools Holland quite recently.

If you haven’t heard his music before-look up Martin Simpson - The song he wrote and performed about his father-Never any Good- is simply amazing. You won’t be disappointed!

Back at the end of March we were delighted by Chinese Whispers -a traditional Chinese classical music ensemble who not only played wonderful music for us but also explained their instruments to us. Ling Peng their director even told traditional Chinese stories to captivated children during the interval.
